"I am a recent SOS scholarship winner. Before I won this award I didn't own a home computer, and my children and I spent all our time at the public library and a neighbor's house just to use a computer. Being a college student and a single mother is hard enough, but not having access to a computer only complicated matters.

I was told about the scholarship program from a friend who thought that I might have a shot at winning one of the awards that were available. So I wrote an essay and explained to the members of SOS what having a computer in our home could do for us. To my surprise, I won.

Mary Jensen met me and we picked out my computer.
Having this computer in my home has made not only
my life easier, it has also helped my children with schoolwork.
Without SOS it would have taken awhile for me to be able
to purchase a computer on my own, but with their help
I was able to get my computer a lot faster.

My children and I are truly grateful for SOS. It is nice to
know there are people out there that are willing to help
you in your time of need. My ultimate goal is to be finished
with my classes at Columbus State this time next year.
When I graduate I will let everyone know because each of
you has played a major role in my education and I can't
thank you enough. Thank you for all your ongoing support.
It means the world to me."
